Product Description

Cica care silicone sheets are manufactured by Smith and Nephew. They are used to reduce keloid and hypertrophic scars. These applications are self adhesive gel sheets that can be cut to fit any scar. They will work on fresh or older scars.

Product detail: A Cica care gel sheet is used for reducing keloid and hypertrophic scars. They are especially effective in reducing the redness and discoloration of scars. The entire function of the Cica Care gel sheet is to trap moisture into the scarred area, and allow the scar to obtain the same coloring as the person’s skin, to pale and blend in with the surrounding area. Cica Care scar treatment can be used on newer scars and on scars that are decades old.

Benefits: Each sheet can be washed, dried and reused about 2 dozen times. They will last up to 28 days. You will see results in about 2 months. This makes them very cost effective. Application is easy you can cut the sheet to fit the size and shape of the scar. This means you can often get more than one application from a single Cica care gel sheet.

Cica care scar reduction is definitely less messy than using some ointments or creams that will get on clothing and perhaps stain a person’s skin. In addition, the Cica Care scar treatment does not cause the person any pain, like other scar management procedures such as injections or laser would cause. This application can also reduce the itching experienced when new scars heal. This will prevent the patient from scratching and damaging the skin, which will make the scar worse.

Care of the Cica care gel sheet: it is important to understand that this product requires some care to keep it working effectively. It needs to be washed and dried frequently, at least once or twice daily.  The cleaning is very straight forward and easy.  Normal soap and water, no chemicals, must be used to wash each strip.  After that, a low fiber cloth can be used to dry the strip.  Before the patient places the strip back on their scar, he or she must clean the scarring area well. This is to prevent the risk of infection, due to water build up.

Reviews are mostly favorable with some patients experiencing improvements in just one week. Hypafix tape is advised for keeping the Cica care silicone sheets in place especially at night.

Packaging: These Cica care scar reduction applications are sold in 12cm x 15cm, 5 inches x 6 inches sheets. They can be purchased individually or in boxes of 10 Cica care gel sheets.

    This is easy to apply and you can cut the sheet to fit whatever size scar it needs to cover. This was the only product I could find that fit what my doctor has suggested. I have noticed an improvement within a week.
